THE SOUTH END is Boston's most beautiful neighborhood - and we're not just talking about the hot young twenty- and thirtysomethings that live there. Rows of brownstones, median parks, sidewalk cafes, and lovely architectural details give this neighborhood much of its sensual appeal. And, as the hub of Boston's dining scene, the South End titillates the senses even further. Astounding in its diversity, the neighborhood plays host to all kinds of folks - rich, poor, straight, gay, artists, professionals, blue-collar workers, and people from every ethnicity and from all over the socioeconomic scale. The South End is as vital a neighborhood as our city possesses, and we are proud to celebrate it.
Union, 1357 Washington Street, (617) 426-4325. This new spot from Seth Woods and Jeff Gates (of Aquitaine and Armani Cafe) was not yet open as we went to press, but it promises to be an architecturally gorgeous, family-oriented restaurant that features American comfort foods and an all-American wine list. We can't wait to check it out.
